About the Course

Developed in partnership with the National Safety Council (NSC), our comprehensive course is interactive and easy to use. Our proven course design helps drivers improve their driving decisions and sharpen their skills on the road. Working at your own pace, you will watch real life driving situations and learn defensive driving techniques.

Certificate Process

Upon completion of the Defensive Driving Course the student will be able to print a personalized Certificate of Completion from the National Safety Council and Thompson Driving. At the successful completion of the course, it is your responsibility to print off a certificate and return it to the court based on the timing and method (in person, fax, email or mail) that your specific court required. Make sure to keep a copy of your certificate for your records. We are not responsible for reporting completions to the court.

FAQ

If I received a ticket from outside the state can I still take this course?
If your court will accept the National Safety Council Online program then yes, but always check with your court first.

How long is the course?
The course is 4+ hours. It does not have to be taken all at one time. You can login with your username and password at anytime to access the course.

How long do I have to complete the course?
That will depend on the court that sent you. We allow your online log-in and password to stay live for 90 days, but you need to make sure your court doesn't want it before then. It is between you and the court.

Does Thompson Driving or National Safety Council send the certificate to the Court?
No, this is your responsibility to print and deliver to your court. Make yourself a copy!
